Must reads... really
Two timely books about Napa Valley are just being released and both are recommended. The first's Oral Histories of Napa County's Agricultural Preserve, published by the Jack L. Davies Napa Valley Agricultural Land Preservation Fund. It tells the story through interviews by Rue Ziegler of the origins and all-important survival of the county's ag preserve, the first in the nation and the only real bulwark against devastating development. The other book is the gorgeous, valuable Napa Valley Historical Ecology Atlas, written by Robin Grossinger and published by the University of California Press in cooperation with the San Francisco Estuary Institute and the Friends of the Napa River.
